Korrectly Koehler
The goal of this seminar is to give class instructors, vocational trainers, and professional trainers the opportunity to see, for themselves, the ten week beginner format, how it is taught and in what order each exercise is taught. So while the serious student of Koehler will learn about techniques
and
execution...it is those wishing to teach the method to others that will
especially benefit.
Included in the seminar will be the full set of class hand outs used
in class. They will be distributed at the end of each segment (just
like it's done in class). Every essential exercise to complete the training for
the companion dog will be taught, and each will be taught in it's proper
sequence.
The seminar will include things like
Day One
How to run the foundation class (the debunking and lounge line lesson);
How to handle tough dogs in a class setting;
How to set up and make the best use of the tunnel of love;
How to run the scrambled heeling exercise;
How to run the on-leash polishing class;
Day Two
How to test (in a group setting) how to test for off-leash readiness and
How to establish a proper foundation for off-leash trainging - or, how to
teach the throw chain lesson;
How to responsibly incorporate problem solving into class instruction;
How to prep the class for the graduation exercises;
How to run graduation; and
How to sell the intermediate level of training (open).
Our sincere hope is that participants will see the value of Koehler class
instruction and use it to benefit the dogs and dog owners in their community.
There are not many who can point to 60-plus years in the dog training
business in our competitive marketplace...but Koehler can. I can show you how
to get-r-done dog after dog, class after class, year after year.
Your thinking it might just be too old after so long? Think
again, a responsible dog in the keep of a responsible owner never gets old.

Tony Ancheta (West Point Ca.)
(http://www.koehlerdogtraining.com/)
Tony Ancheta trined his first dog in 1966. It was a simple proposition
(more like a directive from his mother) "Either get the dog under control or
take him to the pound."
Down to the library for a book on the subject, (K comes before S), sorry
Blanche. He got the dog trained and was hooked ever since. At about age 14 he
contacted Bill Koehler by phone and expressed intrest in learning from him.
Graciously, and with great patience, Bill told him to call back after he had
trained several more dogs. From 1970 to 1974, Tony trained insatiably; pound rescues,
strays, friends dogs and stranger's dogs. If it had four legs and
barked, he trained it. He also wore out two library cards researcing
comparative psycology experiments to gain a better understanding of why what
he was doing worked.
In 1975, Tony moved down to Poomona CA, where he continued the same passion
for dog training. It wasn't long before a chance meeting in a park placed him
in a conversation about technique and execution of the sit-stay correction.
The man whom Tony
was conversing with turned out to be Dick Koehler, who
introduced him to Dan Koehler, and the rest is history.
Some projects that Tony is quite proud of are the 300+ "problem" dogs
rehabilitated in his private training business since 1985. These included a
miniature Daschund who did thousands of dollars worth of damage to his
mistresses Jeep Grand Wagoneer (custom upholstered in Corinthian Leather), a 120 pound
Kuvazs who was hell-bent on bitting people, and a three year old Akita who decided
that anyone with-in 15 feet of his owner was fair game. The list goes on
and on. He also trained dogs for crowd control, search and rescue, police
service dogs and "specialized" scent discrimination. However, he is
particularly proud to the
many class students with whom he has worked with to provide
their dogs with a happier existence free of muzzles, leashes and cages. This has
included all breeds from fear biting Shelties to out of control Anatolians.
